It applies to:
- Our Australian website at www.ichecktpms.com.au
- Our international website at www.ichecktpms.com
- Our companion mobile application (the "iCheckTPMS App")
- Any iCheckTPMS hardware (TPMS sensors, displays, accessories) that you connect to the iCheckTPMS App over Bluetooth

For the purposes of the European General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ("GDPR") and the United Kingdom GDPR ("UK GDPR"), iCheckTPMS is the data controller of your personal information.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
When you shop with us, contact us, create a website account, or contact our support team, we may collect:
- Identity and contact details: name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses.
- Account credentials (website only): username, password (stored in encrypted/hashed form), profile details for your customer account on our online stores. The iCheckTPMS App does not require an account.
- Order and transaction details: products purchased, order history, delivery preferences, returns and warranty claims.
- Payment information: payment is processed by our payment partners (Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, Afterpay, Bancontact, and the credit-card networks Visa, Mastercard and American Express). We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.
- Communications: emails, chat messages, support tickets, social media messages, telephone enquiries, survey responses, product review submissions and warranty registrations.
- Marketing preferences: your subscription status for our email and SMS lists, and the choices you make about marketing communications.
2.2 The iCheckTPMS App — what stays on your phone
The iCheckTPMS App is a companion application that pairs with your iCheck Display (M28 receiver) over Bluetooth Low Energy. The App is on-device-only:
- No account or login is required to use the App.
- No sensor readings, vehicle data, settings, identifiers, location data or diagnostic data are transmitted to us or to any third party from the App.
- No analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking SDKs are embedded in the App.
- The App communicates only with your own iCheck hardware over Bluetooth Low Energy.
The following information is accessed by the App and remains on your phone. We do not receive any of it.
| What | Why the App uses it | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Tyre pressure and tyre temperature readings | Show live dashboard and trigger alerts | On your phone |
| Wheel-bearing / hub temperature readings (where supported) | Show live dashboard and trigger alerts | On your phone |
| Air-bag suspension pressure readings | Show live dashboard and trigger alerts | On your phone |
| Fridge temperature readings | Show live dashboard and trigger alerts | On your phone |
| Sensor IDs, sensor battery level, pairing and disconnection events | Recognise your sensors on next launch; warn you about a flat sensor battery | On your phone |
| Your alert thresholds, unit preferences (psi/bar, °C/°F), pressure profiles, hide/show choices | Apply your preferred display and alerts | On your phone |
| Bluetooth identifier of your iCheck Display | Reconnect to your Display automatically on next launch | On your phone |
| Phone GPS location (only if the optional Mileage feature is enabled) | Estimate distance travelled since the last reset, on your phone | On your phone — never transmitted |
When you uninstall the App, all of this information is removed by your operating system.
2.2.1 Permissions the App requests
The App requests the following permissions on your device:
-
Bluetooth — required to communicate with your iCheck Display. On iOS this is requested via
NSBluetoothAlwaysUsageDescription. On Android 12 and above this is requested at runtime viaBLUETOOTH_SCANandBLUETOOTH_CONNECT. On Android 11 and below it uses the legacy install-timeBLUETOOTHandBLUETOOTH_ADMINpermissions. - Location — on Android, location permission is required by the operating system for any app that scans for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices. On iOS, location is used only if you enable the optional Mileage feature to estimate the distance you have travelled. In both cases, the location data is processed on your phone and is never transmitted to us or to any third party. The App requests "When In Use" location only; it does not request "Always" location.
- Notifications — so the App can warn you when a sensor reading goes outside your alert range.
You can grant or revoke any of these permissions at any time in your phone's Settings. The App will continue to function with reduced features if a permission is denied.
2.2.2 The App does not include
To make this explicit for users, regulators and app-store reviewers, the iCheckTPMS App does not:
- Create or require a user account;
- Transmit sensor data, vehicle data, settings, identifiers, location data or diagnostic data off your device;
- Include analytics SDKs (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel or Amplitude);
- Include crash-reporting SDKs (such as Crashlytics or Sentry);
- Include advertising, attribution or tracking SDKs;
- Track you across other apps or websites — we do not request App Tracking Transparency on iOS;
- Access your Health data, Contacts, Photos, Microphone, Camera, Files or Calendar;
- Share data with the manufacturers of the M28 receiver or sensor hardware;
- Sell personal information for the purposes of California or other US state privacy laws.
If a future version of the App adds features that involve transmitting data — such as optional cloud backup, multi-device sync or remote diagnostics — we will update this Privacy Policy and the corresponding Apple App Store and Google Play Data Safety disclosures before that feature is enabled.
2.3 Information collected automatically (websites)
When you visit our websites, we (and our service providers) automatically collect:
- Device information: device model, operating system and version, browser type and version, mobile network information.
- Usage information: pages and screens viewed, links clicked, time spent, referring/exit pages, search terms used on our sites, and similar interaction data.
- Network information: IP address, approximate geographic location derived from IP, time-zone setting, and ISP.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 5 (Cookies) below.
The iCheckTPMS App does not collect this information automatically, because it does not transmit any data to us.
2.4 Information from third parties
We may receive information about you from:
- Marketplaces and resellers (e.g. Amazon, eBay, authorised stockists, our New Zealand distributor at ichecktpms.co.nz) where you purchased our products, limited to what is needed to fulfil orders, validate warranty, or follow up on customer service.
- Social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) when you interact with our content, ads or pages, in line with the privacy settings on those platforms.
- Advertising and analytics partners (e.g. Meta, Google) that help us measure our advertising and improve targeting.
- Service providers assisting with payments, shipping, fraud screening, reviews, and similar functions.
2.5 Sensitive information
We do not generally collect "sensitive information" (as defined under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)) or "special categories of personal data" (as defined under the GDPR/UK GDPR). If we ever need to collect such information — for example, in the context of a personal injury claim involving a product — we will only do so with your explicit consent and only where necessary.
2.6 Categories of personal information collected (last 12 months) — for California residents
For the purposes of the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together "CCPA"), the following categories of personal information have been collected, used and disclosed in the past 12 months. 3. How we use your information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- To provide our products and services — fulfilling your orders, shipping, processing returns and warranty claims, and giving you customer support.
- To create and manage your customer account — for our online stores (the iCheckTPMS App itself does not have an account).
- To run our business — accounting, record keeping, fraud prevention, internal reporting, and complying with our legal obligations under Australian Consumer Law, the Australian Taxation Office, product safety regulators and equivalent overseas regulators.
- To improve our products — analysing how our hardware and websites perform; identifying bugs; developing new features; and conducting research. We do not analyse data from the iCheckTPMS App because we do not receive any.
- To communicate with you — about your orders, warranty status, firmware updates released for our hardware, product safety notices, recalls, and support requests.
- For marketing — sending you newsletters, offers, content and product news where you have opted in (or where permitted by law). You can unsubscribe at any time.
- For advertising — measuring the performance of our ads on platforms such as Meta and Google, and showing you relevant advertising on those platforms.
- To meet legal and regulatory obligations — including responding to lawful requests from authorities and enforcing our terms.
3.1 Lawful bases for processing — for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, our lawful bases under Article 6 of the GDPR / UK GDPR for processing your personal data are:
- Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) — to deliver products you have ordered and provide the services associated with them.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — to run, secure and improve our business (such as fraud prevention, analytics and product development), provided these interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — for marketing communications, non-essential cookies, optional features (such as precise location used in the App's Mileage feature, which remains on your device), and any processing of special-category data. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)) — when we are required to process information by law (such as tax, accounting or product safety laws).
Where we process special-category data, we rely on your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a)) or another applicable lawful basis under Article 9 of the GDPR.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. We share it only where necessary to operate our business, with the following categories of recipients. The iCheckTPMS App does not share data with any of these recipients because the App does not transmit data off your device.
4.1 Service providers and processors
| Category | Examples | What they do |
|---|---|---|
| E-commerce platform | Shopify Inc. | Hosts our online stores and processes checkout. See Shopify's privacy policy. |
| Payments | Shopify Payments, PayPal, Afterpay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay, Bancontact, and the Visa, Mastercard and American Express card networks | Process your payments and screen for fraud. |
| Shipping & logistics | Australia Post, StarTrack and other domestic carriers (AU); international couriers including DHL, FedEx and equivalent partners (for ichecktpms.com orders) | Deliver your orders. |
| Email & SMS marketing | Mailchimp (operated by Intuit Inc.) | Send transactional and marketing emails. See Mailchimp's privacy policy. |
| Advertising & analytics | Meta Platforms (Facebook/Instagram) — Pixel and Conversions API; Google LLC — Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion tracking | Measure ad performance, retarget ads, analyse site usage. Applies to our websites only — not to the iCheckTPMS App. |
| Reviews | Judge.me | Collect and display product and store reviews. See Judge.me's privacy policy. |
| Customer service | Email, telephone and our authorised distributors (including our New Zealand distributor) | Respond to enquiries, manage warranty claims, and provide technical support. |
Our service providers are only permitted to use your information for the purposes we instruct them to, and are required to keep it confidential and secure. Where the GDPR/UK GDPR applies, these recipients act as our "processors" under written data processing agreements that meet the requirements of Article 28.
4.2 Authorised resellers and distributors
If you purchase via an authorised reseller or distributor, we may share limited information with them (such as warranty registrations, technical support requests, or product recall notices) so that you can be properly supported.
4.3 Legal, safety and compliance disclosures
We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to:
- Comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, warrant, or other legal process;
- Respond to lawful requests from public authorities (including law enforcement);
- Enforce our terms of service or other agreements;
- Protect the rights, property or safety of iCheckTPMS, our customers or the public; and
- Investigate or prevent fraud or security issues.
4.4 Business transfers
If iCheckTPMS is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructure, financing or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require any successor to honour this Privacy Policy.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Our websites use cookies and similar technologies (including pixels, software development kits, and local storage) to make the sites work, remember your preferences, analyse usage, and deliver personalised advertising. The iCheckTPMS App does not use cookies, pixels or tracking technologies.
The categories of cookies and tracking technologies we use on our websites are:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (e.g. shopping cart, checkout, account login). These cannot be disabled.
- Performance and analytics — help us understand how the site is used (e.g. Google Analytics 4).
- Functional — remember your preferences (such as language or region).
- Advertising and targeting — used by us and our partners (Meta Pixel and Conversions API, Google Ads conversion tracking) to show you relevant ads on third-party platforms and measure their performance.
You can manage your cookie preferences via the cookie banner on our site (where shown), and through your browser settings. If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we will obtain your consent before placing non-essential cookies. Disabling some cookies may affect your experience on our websites.
"Do Not Track" signals. Our websites do not currently respond to browser-based "Do Not Track" signals as no common standard has been adopted, but we honour valid Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as opt-out requests for the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California and other applicable state laws.
6. Marketing communications and your choices
We will only send you marketing communications where this is permitted by law or where you have given consent. Marketing emails sent to Australian recipients comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth); SMS messages comply with applicable Australian and overseas rules.
You can opt out at any time by:
- Clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any marketing email;
- Replying STOP to a marketing SMS;
- Updating your preferences in your account; or
- Emailing us at admin@ichecktpms.com.au.
Even if you opt out of marketing, we will still send you transactional and service messages (such as order confirmations, shipping notifications, warranty notices, firmware update notices, and important safety information).
7. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. These measures include encryption in transit (HTTPS) for our websites, restricted access to data on a need-to-know basis, secure cloud hosting for our e-commerce platform, password hashing, and confidentiality obligations on our staff and service providers.
Because the iCheckTPMS App does not transmit your data over the internet, we do not need to apply transit encryption or server-side controls to App data. Your phone's operating system encrypts on-device storage by default on iOS and on most modern Android devices.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If you become aware of a security issue, please contact us immediately at admin@ichecktpms.com.au. We will notify you and the relevant regulators of an "eligible data breach" (under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)) or a "personal data breach" (under Articles 33–34 of the GDPR / UK GDPR) where required by law.
8. Data retention
We keep your personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:
- To provide our products and services;
- To comply with our legal, tax, accounting and warranty obligations (typically up to 7 years for transaction records under Australian law);
- To resolve disputes and enforce our agreements; and
- To improve our products through aggregated and de-identified analysis.
We do not retain any data from the iCheckTPMS App because we do not receive any. App data on your phone is removed when you uninstall the App or when you clear the App's storage in your phone's Settings.
When we no longer need your information, we will securely delete or de-identify it.
9. International data transfers
iCheckTPMS is based in Australia. Some of our website service providers (including Shopify, Meta, Google, Mailchimp and Judge.me) may store and process your information outside Australia, including in the United States, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and other countries where these providers operate. This does not apply to the iCheckTPMS App, which does not transmit data to any country.
When we transfer personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in line with applicable privacy laws — including by relying on the recipient's compliance regime and contractual safeguards.
Transfers from the EEA / UK / Switzerland. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, UK or Switzerland to a country that has not received an adequacy decision from the European Commission, the UK Government or the Swiss Federal Council, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (2021), the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or other approved transfer mechanisms. You can request a copy of these safeguards by emailing us at admin@ichecktpms.com.au.
Transfers from Australia (APP 8). Where we disclose your personal information to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure that recipients handle your personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles, except where you have given us your consent to a different standard or a relevant exception applies.
10. Your privacy rights
10.1 Rights available to all users
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct information that is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete or misleading;
- Delete your personal information (subject to legal exceptions);
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it (such as for marketing or non-essential cookies);
- Make a complaint if you believe we have mishandled your personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@ichecktpms.com.au. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We aim to respond within 30 days (or sooner if required by law). We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
10.2 Australia — Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)
iCheckTPMS handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You may also remain anonymous or use a pseudonym in your dealings with us, where it is lawful and practicable to do so (APP 2).
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy issue, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
Office of the Australian Information Commissioner
GPO Box 5218 Sydney NSW 2001
Phone: 1300 363 992
Email: enquiries@oaic.gov.au
Website: www.oaic.gov.au
10.3 European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland — GDPR / UK GDPR / FADP
If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, in addition to the rights above you have the right to:
- Restriction of processing in certain circumstances (Article 18 GDPR);
- Data portability — to receive a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format (Article 20 GDPR);
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including direct marketing (Article 21 GDPR);
- Not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects (Article 22 GDPR). We do not currently engage in such automated decision-making;
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — www.ico.org.uk. In the EU you can find your authority via the European Data Protection Board at edpb.europa.eu. In Switzerland this is the FDPIC at edoeb.admin.ch.
10.4 California and other US state privacy laws
California (CCPA / CPRA). If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect, use, share or disclose about you, and to receive a copy in a portable format;
- Delete personal information we have collected from you;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt-out of "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. iCheckTPMS does not sell personal information for money. However, our use of advertising cookies and pixels on our websites (such as Meta Pixel and Google Ads conversion tracking) may qualify as "sharing" under California law. You can opt out by adjusting your cookie settings on our site, by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, or by emailing admin@ichecktpms.com.au with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information";
- Limit the use of "sensitive personal information" — we only use sensitive personal information for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy and not for inferences of characteristics;
- Be free from retaliation for exercising your privacy rights.
You may designate an authorised agent to make a request on your behalf by providing written authorisation that we may verify.
Other US states. Residents of states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws — including Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), Texas (TDPSA), Oregon (OCPA), Montana (MCDPA), Iowa, Tennessee, Indiana, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland and others — have similar rights to access, correct, delete, opt-out of targeted advertising and the "sale" of personal data, and to obtain a copy of their data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@ichecktpms.com.au. If we deny a request, you may have the right to appeal that decision; instructions will be provided in our response.
11. Children's privacy
Our products and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at admin@ichecktpms.com.au and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
12. Third-party links
Our websites may contain links to third-party websites, plug-ins or services that we do not own or operate. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing personal information with them.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when it was last revised. If we make material changes, we will notify you (for example, by email or by a prominent notice on our website or in the iCheckTPMS App) before the changes take effect. We encourage you to review this page regularly.
